In Loving Memory of
Victor Adelphus Ignatius Trudeau
“Slick Vic”
July 16, 1946 – May 27, 2026
"There is always something to do."
— Dad’s favourite saying
It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the peaceful passing of Victor Adelphus Ignatius Trudeau, affectionately known as “Slick Vic,” on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the age of 79. Victor passed away peacefully at the Manitoulin Health Centre, surrounded by his loving family.
Victor is survived by his devoted common-law wife of 37 years, Dorothy Shigwadja, whose love and companionship brought him great happiness throughout their years together.
He was the beloved son of the late Ignatius and Olive Trudeau (Opa and Oma) and loving brother to Elizabeth.
Victor was predeceased by his siblings Alphonse, Rose (Victor), Isadore (Josephine), Stella (Smitty), Maxie (Loretta), and Randy (Maureen).
Victor will be forever cherished and lovingly remembered by his children: Adolphus (Tammy), Robert (Martina), Aaron, Adrian Baa, and their mother Linda Trudeau Baa; Shawn (Melissa), Cory, Alex, Drew, and his daughter Petrina.
He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Dustin, Sabrina, Dillion (Peyton), Adrianna, Gavin, Justice, Teyla, Gabriella, Arianna, Mackenzie, Reese, Emma, Carter, Victoria, Sophia, Kewadin, Harlen, Kashtin, Memengwaanh, Olivia, Mia, Briar, Lorenzo, and Andrea Topolino.
His love extended to his great-grandchildren, Biboonanang Ominika and Lydia Trudeau, who brought him immense joy.
Victor was also forever loved by his special children: Christopher Jackson, Matthew “Patty” Baa, Derrick Jackson (Nancy), Nikka Pitawanakwat, Lucie Topolino (Alex), Jessica Corbiere, Candi Baa, and Sophie (Ikkid) and his favourite girl Vanessa Baa.
He was a proud Godfather to Gabriel DiSalvo, Tanya Peltier, and Natashia Peltier.
Victor will be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends, including Louie Noakwegijig, Mike Lavalle, Chin, AJ, Kenny Machimity, Irvin Oshkabwisens, and all of his friends and coworkers at Wikwemikong Public Works and Manitowaning NAPA.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Victor spent 39 years with Wikwemikong Public Works as a heavy equipment operator and certified welder. His strong work ethic and commitment to his community were evident in everything he did. In his younger years, he worked as a laborer for INCO and at the Wawa Mine, experiences that helped shape the resilient and determined man he became.
Known throughout the community as “Slick Vic,” Victor was an outstanding competitive softball player. Whether pitching from the mound or holding down first base, he was a force to be reckoned with on the field and the batter box. He proudly played for the Buzwah Skits and the Manitowaning Ball Club, and one of his greatest joys was winning numerous championships alongside his son, Adolphus.
Never one to sit still, Victor established V. Trudeau Trucking, providing trucking, road construction support, landscaping services, cottage lot preparation, and welding projects throughout the community. He was always willing to lend a hand and took great pride in helping others.
One of Victor’s favorite pastimes was cutting and delivering firewood during the
fall and winter months.
It was work he genuinely enjoyed and treasured as time spent alongside his sons. True to his favourite saying, “There is always something to do,” Victor stayed busy and productive throughout his life.
When he wasn't working, Victor enjoyed traveling to St. Ignace, Mackinac Island, and Casino Rama, where he could often be found trying his luck on his favourite slot machines. He was a loyal fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and rarely missed an opportunity to watch a game.
More than anything, Victor loved cheering on his grandchildren from the sidelines as they played lacrosse, hockey, baseball, and other sports. His support, encouragement, and pride in their accomplishments meant the world to them.
Victor leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, laughter, and unwavering love for his family and community.
His strength, wisdom, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit will live on in the countless memories shared by family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Forever, loved. Forever remembered. Forever missed.
Rest easy, Slick Vic.
