Stella Margaret Strong

Strong, Stella Margaret (Nee: Bayly)
1932 -2022

On Nov 15, 2022 Stella Strong passed away peacefully amongst family at her beloved “Stronghold” on Manitoulin Island, at the age of 90.

A formidable, loving force in the lives of all those she touched, memories of Stella will forever be cherished by her Children: Martin, Alison (John), Philip (Laurel) and Helen (Wade); 

Grandchildren: Katherine, Michael, Thomas (Kim), Andrew and Bayly; 

great-grandchild: Malia Stella; Sister: Libby (Ian); and a great many dear family and friends.

 Throughout her life she was a vibrant and active mover & shaker in all of her myriad communities - and will be especially missed by Sudbury & Manitoulin friends,

quilting & book clubs, gardening and nature groups. 

Her passing has created a void at the Southwind Senior Residence, where she resided and presided for the past 6 years, making many friends amongst residents & staff there.

Much more of a leader than a follower in life, in death Stella follows her loving husband and faithful companion of 64 years, Jim (Stuart) Strong; treasured siblings Wendy, Molly & Peter; and beloved parents Leonard and Eileen.

A yet-to-be scheduled commemoration and celebration of Stella’s life will be announced and open to all. Please send a note to her regular email or contact any of her children if you wish to receive notification.

Memorial Donations may be made to Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy in which Stella and Jim were great believers and supporters: escarpment.ca/donate. 

A memorial plaque will be raised in their honour on Biosphere’s Heaven’s Gate trail this spring.
