In Loving Memory of
Ronald "Ronnie" Clayton Douglas Debassige
February 19, 1968 to March 24, 2024
Ronnie passed away unexpectedly on March 24, 2024 in Sudbury, Ontario. He was 56 years old.
Ronnie was born in Toronto. His family moved to Lansing, Michigan soon after he was born and where he spent most of his life. In his younger years, he excelled in hockey and played at elite levels. His promising hockey career was cut short due to injury. He attended Lansing Community College where he studied business and law. He did volunteer work with numerous organizations.
He will be missed by his best friend Pat in Lansing.
He later moved to M'Chigeeng where he spent a number of years in the community, became the inaugural coach to the M'Chigeeng Banshees Girls Hockey Team and designed the team logo. He spent a lot of time with family and helped where he could. After several years, he returned to Lansing to help care for his parents.
In 2020, he returned to M'Chigeeng where he spent the remainder of his life and resided with his cousin and best friend Junior.
He was a die-hard Detroit Red Wings Fan and Detroit Tigers fan. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge when it came to hockey teams, hockey players and statistics. He was an avid sports card collector and model builder. He enjoyed watching hockey games, baseball games, football games and sports highlights. He enjoyed time with his family and grew up connected to many cousins who he enjoyed spending time with. He enjoyed good conversation and great laughs. He also loved his pets and leaves behind his fur babies.
Ronnie was born to Marion and Douglas Debassige,
both predeceased. Grandson of Josette and Lazare Debassige, Victoria and Gabriel Shabina and Angeline Debassige all predeceased. He is survived by his siblings Kelly and Bill. He will be missed by his aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Family and friends will gather at the Island Funeral Home on Saturday, April 14, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
for visitation and funeral. Cremation to follow.
There will be a celebration of life and burial along side is father on July 13, 2024 in M'Chigeeng.
