Ronald George Obituary

In Loving Memory of
Ronald (Ron) Phillip George
January 18, 1947 - March 20, 2026

In loving memory of Ronald Philip (Ron) George of Little Current, Ontario
who passed away at the Manitoulin Health Centre on Friday, March 20th, 2026 after a brief illness.

Ron was born in London, Ontario on Saturday, January 18th, 1947 and was the eldest child of Philip and Marie (nee Newell) George.  As a young boy, he moved with his family to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

At the age of 21, Ron realized his dream of becoming an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police.  His original posting was in Sudbury, Ontario.  He was later transferred to the Little Current Detachment where he spent the majority of his career until returning to Sudbury in 1991 where he was a Detective Constable and District Intelligence Officer in the No. 13 District Crime Unit.

After retiring in June, 1998, Ron returned to Manitoulin Island where he and his wife Tammy spent their summers.
During the winter months, they enjoyed many happy years at their home on Lake Griffin in Leesburg, Florida.

Ron is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 31 years, Tammy (nee Lockyer) George of Little Current.  He is pre-deceased by his parents Philip and Marie George of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and his father-in-law Floyd (Porkey) Lockyer of Little Current.

He is also survived by his children Tom George (Karyn), Michael George (Tara) and grandchildren Mykaila and Carter of Angus, Ontario and Sandra George (Jeff) and grandchildren Bryce and Zander of Dowling, Ontario, along with his brother Robert George of Sault Ste. Marie, and his children Aaron, David and Liisa (daughter Maija) and his sister Nancy Gregory of Kingston, Ontario, and her daughter Kelly (son Henry)

Ron is also survived by his mother-in-law Lila Lockyer of Little Current, brother-in-law David Lockyer (Rebecca) and niece Makaylah Hopkins of Brampton, Ontario,  and niece Shannon Lockyer of Little Current, Ontario.

Many thanks to the wonderful medical staff at Advent Health Waterman in Tavares, Florida, and Advent Health Orlando in Orlando, Florida.  Their kindness and compassion during a very difficult time will never be forgotten.  A special thank you to Dr. Abilio Llanes without whom we would not have been able to bring Ron home to his family.

Thanks also to the medical staff at the Manitoulin Health Centre for their compassionate care of Ron during his final days and their kindness to our family.  We are forever grateful.

To honour Ron’s wishes, cremation has already
taken place and there will be no funeral service.
