In loving Memory of
Ronald Francis Lewis
September 3, 1949 - April 6, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our brother and uncle, Ronald Francis Lewis who passed on Monday, April 6, 2026.
Ron was born in Lion’s Head, Ontario and was the son of the late Rose Lewis and Joseph Wabegijig.
Ron has travelled and worked across Canada but spent most of his working career in Toronto and on Manitoulin Island.
Ron especially loved being the Swing Bridge Operator.
He kept stats of the boat traffic passing through the North Channel for many years.
His sarcasm was apparent when someone called the bridge to ask if it was open.
Ron’s response was ‘no, it’s closed 90% of the time”.
Ron went to Cambrian College in 1999 as a mature student and earned a diploma in Microcomputer Business Applications and he was part of the coaching staff for the Manitoulin Panthers team which won the 1996 Sudbury Nickel District Peewee Championship.
Ron loved fishing and boating but couldn’t swim. He was an avid sports fan. He loved watching hockey, baseball, and football and cheered for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Blue Jays and Buffalo Bills.
Ron is predeceased by his siblings,
Doris, Margaret,
Clarence and Leo,
and will be missed by his sister, Elaine (Rick).
Ron will be missed by many nieces and nephews;
Bernie (predeceased), Junior (predeceased),
Jimmy (Karen), Robert (Dierdre),
Stacey, Kevin,
Rebecca, Sara (Richard),
Thomas (Bethany), and Francis (Sasha),
and he will be missed by his great nieces and nephews; Amanda, Jimmy, Quentis, Darwin, Cash, George, and Shayla.
Cremation has taken place and celebration of life will be held at the Little Current Legion,
on April 26th from 1pm to 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, please send your donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 177.
