Reginald Leeson Obituary

In Loving Memory of
Reginald Lloyd Leeson
May 8, 1930 - October 10, 2024

Reg was born in Mindemoya on May 8, 1930 to Ross and Ruby Leeson, being the 3rd, and last child they had.

He lived on the family farm helping his father raise cows, pigs and chickens. He married Noreen on September 15, 1956, and they raised Nancy and Blaire on the farm until 1964 when they bought a house from Claude Smith and moved to First Street in South Baymouth. By this time Reg had set on his own and became a carpenter. He was not only a carpenter, but could also do plumbing and electrical work. A virtual “Jack of all Trades”!

Two years after they moved to First Street, he built a house on the same street for his parents. After their passing he, Noreen and family moved into his parents' house where they resided for the rest of their lives.

Reg had many interests. He loved to fish, hunt and snowmobile in the winter. He was also a successful fur trapper for many years when there was a demand for furs. He and his family went on many vacations! In 1972 he drove his family to from South Baymouth to BC in a truck camper. Later on, it was cruising the Caribbean or staying at different all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, to get away from the cold Ontario winters.

After retiring he was involved in a deer feeding program in the winter, which included cutting branches of cedar for them to eat when the snow got too high for them to reach. He also fed them deer feed by the 50lb bag.

Both he and his dad were members of the Doric Lodge #455 in Little Current. He and Ross both became Masters of this Lodge. He and Noreen were also involved in the Order of the Eastern Star #237, for many years becoming Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron in 1987/88.

Another passion of his was buying and restoring old tractors, bringing them back to their original state, right down to the decals! In his later years, he enjoyed feeding a pair or more, of mallard ducks who returned every year to raise their ducklings. His neighbourhood loved to watch him feed his little brood!

Reg was predeceased by his wife Noreen of 68 years on December 3, 2023. He was also predeceased by his older, and only sister Idella, and his older, and only brother Maxwell.

Survived by his only daughter, Nancy (Grant), their son, Darren (Jennifer) and daughter Clarissa. Also survived by his only son Blaire (May), his sons Andrew (Michiko), and Brandon (Erika), and step-sons Jason and Luke. Leaving behind his great grandsons Elliot and Emmet.

We will all miss his sense of humour, his sharp memory, and all his many talents, which were beyond his carpentry skills. If anyone had a project, Reg was there to help and offer advice.

He will be deeply missed but never forgotten!
