Elizabeth passed away peacefully 
at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home 
on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the age of 101 years.

She was the daughter of Alexander 
and Rosalie Osawamick (nee Fox).
Loving wife of the late Norman Debassige 
the founder of the LNHL.
Beloved mother of Dorothy (Edward), Adam (Lorraine),
Calvin (Cathy), Donald (predeceased) (Winnie),
Boniface (predeceased) (Freda), Wayne (Heather), Conrad (predeceased)
 Norman Junior (predeceased) and Arnold (Lorraine).
Proud grandmother of 25 grandchildren, 
great grandmother of 49 great grandchildren 
and great great grandmother of 1 great great grandchild.
Elizabeth was predeceased by all of her siblings; Annie, Charlotte, Madeline, Cecile, Mary Louise, James, John, Adam and Bernard. Cherished sister-in-law of Beatrice, Virginia and Eliza. Cherished Zigos of Barbara (Tom predeceased),
 Jean (predeceased), Donnie Assinewai, 
Martina (Ron predeceased), Stan (Tish), Gertie (Max), 
Beverley (Louie), Pat, Johnny (Predeceased), 
Ricky Osawanimki, Ann Marie (Patrick predeceased), 
Eddie Shigwadja, Lilly (predeceased), (Paul), Joey (Clara predeceased), Darlene (Randy), Liz and Elizabeth Osawamick. Adopted Zigos of Francis Osawamick (predeceased), (Theresa), 
Bella Shigwadja (predeceased), Stella Rose (predeceased), Isabelle (Dennis), Lionel (Carla), Richard and Wayne (Verna). Great Zigos and great great Zigos to many.
Elizabeth had a strong spirit. She was sent to Spanish Residential School at the young age of 4. From this experience blossomed a life that lasted 101 years, leaving behind a legacy of 4 generations. She was a strong woman. She worked at Manitoulin Secondary School from its beginning in 1969 until her retirement. She split her own wood until she was well into her 80's, and she lived independently at home until she was 98. She loved quilting, gardening, baking bread, picking apples, fiddle music and drives with her children. She enjoyed watching hockey and baseball, both on tv and in person. Elizabeth loved to swing on her porch in the evening. 
She would watch the birds and relax. She lived a life that will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Family and friends will gather 
at the M'Chigeeng Community Complex 
on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 3:00PM.

Funeral Service will take place 
at Immaculate Conception Church 
on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 11:00AM.
Cremation to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wikwemikong Nursing Home.
