In Loving Memory of
Marilyn Jean McDermid
December 25, 1954 - May 15, 2026
Who passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, at the Manitoulin Health Centre in Mindemoya, at the age of 71, with her family by her side.
Marilyn was born on Christmas day 1954 in Mindemoya, Ontario.
Beloved wife of Gord for 54 years.
They lived all across Canada and their adventurous spirit took them and their family to Yellowknife. She cherished their time in Yellowknife, where she worked for Northwestel and later became the executive assistant to the Premier of the Northwest Territories, an experience that included meeting the Queen.
Following retirement, she returned to Manitoulin Island, where she enjoyed golfing, curling, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Family was the most important part of Marilyn’s life;
loving mother to Gordie (Lavonne) and T.J. (Leslie).
Cherished grandmother of Carson, Mika, Evan, and Zachary.
Marilyn will also be lovingly remembered by her sisters Peggy (Tom), Barbara (Greg), Diane (Max), Yvonne (Ed)
and her brother Terry (Karen).
She was predeceased by her parents, Howard and Bernice,
and her brother Russ (Marnie).
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mindemoya Health Center for their care and compassion.
In keeping with Marilyn’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.
Cremation has taken place.
