Madeleine Rosella Charlton (nee Jaggard)
December 9, 1931 - April 4, 2022
Madeleine, a resident of Little Current, passed away at the Manitoulin Health Centre on Monday, April 4, 2022 at the age of 90 years.
Madeleine was born on Ten Mile Point,
daughter of the late Evalena and Guy Jaggard.
Predeceased by beloved husband John, August 13, 1989.
Loving mother of Cheryl (nee Charlton) and
John "Tom" White(predeceased November 4, 2015) of Manitowaning,
Patricia Linkert (nee Charlton) of Calgary, AB,
John Charlton of Manitowaning,
and Ed and Jeannie Charlton (nee Smith) of Newmarket.
Predeceased by brother Harry Jaggard (wife Gladys)
and sisters Violet (husbands Fred Hubbert & Bob McAllister),
Lillian (husband Charles Viney),
Bessie (husband James Lockyer),
Florence (husband Walter Lenson) and Beulah and Iris Jaggard.
Loving grandmother to Donald and John Wilson,
Kerrie (nee Wilson) and Wade Kruger,
Bradley and Bryan White,
Emily (nee Charlton) and Jordan Lazareth, Erin Charlton,
Nikki Laidley, Cassandra Jonker and Courtney (nee Jonker) Goodwin.
Forever remembered by several great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and an abundance of close friends.
Madeleine dedicated her life to her husband John as loyal wife, hardworking hands on the farm, mother to the four children they graciously adopted as their own, and as unwavering caregiver for John to his final day. Madeleine lost John far too early and although she never stopped missing him, her resilience, curiosity and dedication to her faith propelled her to live out dreams and celebrate many firsts; like world travel, several cross Canada car trips with her friends to see her daughter Pat in Calgary, AB, and most notably, achieving Elder status for the Community of Christ Church in 1991. In retirement, Madeleine spent much of her time as Clergy for the Manitoulin Health Centre, having sat with hundreds of families during timesof sickness, death and dying.
Madeleine Charlton, a remarkable life, lived to the fullest. Forever rest in peace with Dad, Mom.
Family and friends will gather at Island Funeral Home
Visitation Friday, April 8, 2022 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Funeral Service Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11am.
Interment of ashes to follow in Summer 2022.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
Manitoulin Health Centre Auxiliary or the Community of Christ Church.
