Lynda Van Horne Obituary

In Loving Memory of
Lynda Van Horne (nee Bowerman)
July 24, 1942 - March 13, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Lynda Van Horne (nee Bowerman) on March 13, 2024 at the age of 81.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Barry.

Loving mother of Alan (Donna) Van Horne and much loved Nanna to Taylor, Lauren and Sarah.

Cherished sister of Ann Marie Tann (Ronnie, predeceased)

and aunt to Natalie Morningstar (Ron), Kellie Hunter (Jamie) and great aunt to Mitchell and Jenna and great-great aunt to Lily and Kira.

Lynda will be sadly missed by her friends Judy and Barry Bell, Joyce and Wayne Kerr and Evelyn Cole. She will be especially missed by close family friends and adopted brother to Barry, Jim Philp (Bonnie) and daughters Jennifer and Amy.

Lynda grew up in Green Bay spending many summer days fishing on Pike Lake and on her grandparents farm.

Barry and Lynda were married in October 1962 and moved to Sudbury from the Island shortly after, eventually moving to their home up on the hill southeast of Lively in 1969.

Lynda’s love of animals was always present, always one to feed the neighbour’s dog and the stray cats that came around. She enjoyed watching the birds, squirrels and chipmunks that came to the feeder set up in their front yard. Her most recent favourite dog was Frankie.

Lynda was a proud member of the Lively chapter of T.O.P.S. and over the years made many close friends and attended many of the conventions in Ontario.

She spent her free time painting, crocheting and writing stories about her childhood “adventures“ on the farm as Lily. She enjoyed sharing these stories with her grand daughters.

The family wishes to thank Todd and the staff at Walden Family Drugstore for the service and assistance provided over the last few years. A very special thank you for the care and assistance provided by Kate, Julie, Lindsay and all the staff at Bayshore. Thank you also to the nurses, doctors and support staff on 2C and 6J at the Mississauga Hospital.

Lynda will be laid to rest with Barry later this spring at the Mindemoya Cemetery.
