Julian passed away peacefully at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at the age of 86.
Dear son of
the late Samuel and Harriet (nee Trudeau) Manitowabi.
Survived by his children,
Joe (Roxanne), Lyn-marie, Sandra Mae, Donna, Constance, Julian Jr. and Samuel,
and their mother Margaret Manitowabi (nee Debassige) (predeceased).
Also children Julian and Jessica McNichol-Manitowabi
and their mother Juanita McNichol.
Cherished by 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Treasured and survived by his sister Connie Pitawanakwat.
Predeceased by his siblings
Mary Wemigwans, Nancy, Theodore, Rene, Dominic, Alphonse, Elizabeth, Marina, Wilfred (Grace surviving) Manitowabi, Tina, Caroline, Gertrude (Donnie surviving) Maiangowi and Louis (Agnes surviving) Manitowabi.
Julian will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Fondly remembered as a big brother and provider. Julian retired from Inco over 30 years ago. He was a Knowledge Keeper and member of the Raindance family. Long time board member of the N’swakamok Friendship Centre. Survivor of Garnier St. Joseph IRS. Julian was a lumberjack as a young man with his dad at E.B. Eddy and Ramsey. Friend of Bill W. for 40 plus years. Julian was a boxer, a hockey player, and a baseball player.
Family and friends will gather
at St. Anthony Daniel Church, Kaboni
Visitation on Monday, April 27, 2026 from 7pm.
Traditional Ceremony in the morning of Wednesday, April 29, 2026
Followed by Funeral Mass at 1pm.
Burial to follow in the Wiikwemkoonhsing Kaboni Cemetery.
