Helena left us peacefully from the Wikwemikong Nursing Home on Friday, October 8, 2021 at the age of 82.

Joan Helena Trudeau was born to Michael Trudeau and Mary Jane (Pangowish) Trudeau on April 27, 1939.

She is the youngest sibling of
Catherine Roy,
Rita Corbiere (Adam),
Zoey Trudeau,
Francis Trudeau (Ernestine),
Alice Fox (David),
John "Jack" Trudeau (Kathleen),
Wilfred Trudeau (Gertrude),
Orville Trudeau (Sophie),
Yvonne McLeod (Leroy),
predeceased by all.

She was a wonderful Aunty! She loved her many nieces and nephews and had a beloved place in all their lives.

Helena was a devout Roman Catholic. She lived her faith. Helena served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1959-1962. She did her basic training in Clinton, Ontario and was stationed in Cenetaur, Quebec.
She was one of the driving forces in bringing pow wows to Wikwemikong. She helped found the original Wikwemikong Cultural Festival, formerly known as the Wikwemikong Indian Days. She was a fluent speaker of Anishinabemowin and readily shared her memories of the Family and thereby, community's past, including her years spent at the Spanish Residential School.
Helena was an independent woman with a playful spirit! She was a road warrior and loved the great outdoors. She was thrifty and practical. Her Mother was especially blessed, as Helena looked after her until her passing. for that, the Family is forever grateful.
Helena was a kind, gentle Soul. She will remain in the hearts of all who had the good fortune to know her, especially her siblings' children, grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.

Visitation on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 1:30PM
Funeral Service on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 11:00AM
Burial to follow in the Wikwemikong Upper Cemetery.
