Jacqueline McLeod Obituary

In Loving Memory of
Jacqueline Louise McLeod
Sunrise: December 8, 1968 - Sunset: March 25, 2024
55 years of age

Sadly we announce the passing of our beloved sister Jacqueline (Jackie) Louise McLeod on Monday March 25th at the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto, Ontario due to a prolonged illness.
Jackie was surrounded by family and friends during her final days, and received great peace and comfort from everyone's prayers and visits during this time.

Jackie was employed at South Riverdale Community Health Centre in Toronto, and was part of the COUNTERfit Harm Reduction Program. She helped people on the streets with food, clothing, support, and education around safer substance abuse. She also helped them connect with needed healthcare, housing, and shelters. Jackie also worked in the Women's program supporting women with breakfasts, and programs to give women a foot in the door for future employment opportunities. She was loved by her co-workers and program users - she was a great cook and loved feeding people, her sense of humor helped people during difficult times, and her  no-nonsense approach also helped provide
clients with stability and support.

Jackie lived many years in Toronto but was just a phone call away to her family and friends. Usually her calls were short and to the point, and she just wanted to let us know she was doing ok, and always ended with a “love you”.  Jackie was loved and cared for by many friends and relatives, and she was known for her sense of humour, great athleticism in her younger years, her delicious cabbage rolls, and her huge appetite.  Jackie loved to laugh and will
be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Jackie is survived by her siblings Patricia McLeod, Parker (Vivian) McLeod, Micheal McLeod (Corrine Flamand),
and Alfie McLeod (predeceased).
Spouse of the late Micheal Laford (predeceased), Loving mother of Justin Laford (predeceased) and Dana McLeod (Filipe)
Daughter of Yvonne (nee Trudeau) and Leroy McLeod (predeceased).
Granddaughter of Michael and Mary Jane Trudeau (predeceased) of Wikwemikong. John and Mary Louise McLeod (predeceased) of Neyaashiinigmiing.

She will be deeply missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends and relatives from Wiikwemkoong, and Neyaashiinigmiing.  Special cousin Alanna Trudeau, and special childhood friends Angela, Scub, and Do-wa (predeceased), and her cat Lucky.
