Loved by his life long partner Loretta Rosie Peltier, stepson Brendan Peltier (Lorraine) of Toronto, stepdaughter Janice Peltier of Wikwemikong and his many nieces and nephews who have known Leo to be "Grandpa Leo".

Leo enjoyed golf, playing cards and monopoly, watching sports, tv bingo, and reading both biographical and history books. During his studies at Trent University, Leo had a keen interest in Indigenous Studies.
