In Loving Memory of
Emily Rose Diane Kimewon
April 13, 1965 - July 10, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Emily Rose Diane Kimewon, who began her journey to the Spirit World on July 10, 2025, at 1:20 AM, peacefully surrounded by family. She was 60 years old.
Emily was born at the Manitoulin Health Centre in Little Current, ON, and raised in Wikwemikong Unceded Territory, where her spirit, strength, and love for life took root. A proud Anishinaabe Kwe, Emily was a devoted mother, sister, friend, aunt and Nokomis. Her warmth and fierce love carried through every part of her life.
Her cooking was legendary—especially in Toronto, where many remember the meals she made and the way she made people feel welcome. Emily had a contagious laugh, a sharp wit, and a famously expressive middle finger.
She was known for telling it like it was, loving hard, and making people feel seen.
She loved crafting, playing cards and board games like Scrabble and Crazy 8’s with her children, and was always vocal when she had something to say. She was the life of the party and had the mouth of a sailor — and we wouldn’t have wanted her any other way. Her generosity, advocacy, and community support were woven into every part of her life. She gave when others couldn’t, stood up when others stayed quiet, and never let her fire dim.
Emily is survived by her children: Stephanie Fox,
