In Loving Memory of
Elizabeth (Liz) Ann Schweitzer (McPhee/Williamson)
89 of Harrison Twp Michigan passed away peacefully at her son’s home in Mount Clemens Michigan the 16th of July 2024.
She was born June 23, 1935 to Stuart and Elizabeth McPhee (Williamson), both now deceased.
She was also the younger sister of her brother Stuart (Jr.) McPhee.
Elizabeth was the wife of the late John Charles Schweitzer.
Loving mother of Charles (Chuck) Stuart Schweitzer (Tina).
Grandmother of Michael and Amanda Krim.
Great Grandmother of Ava and Michael Szymanski.
Dear Aunt to Cindy Bruwier (Mike), Cathy Harmon – Adkins (William), Laurie Debets (Troy) and Jennifer Schuldt (Forest).
She loved to be active. Liz bowled with her friends for decades, before quitting in her 80’s. She was the youngest on her team at the time. She participated in the Friends of the Fifth Precinct, helped with community events, N.E.A.R. North East Area Residence Group. She was also a member of the G.P. Ladies School of Government. Liz also enjoyed being part of the Jefferson Yacht Club for many years. She and her husband Jack had many good times down at Sindbads Restaurant on the river. The people were like family.
Liz was born and raised in Manitowaning, Ontario, Canada. Manitowaning was a small town located on Manitoulin Island, located between Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. She went to High School in Vankleek Hill Ontario, and then went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University in Quebec (Class of 57). She then went on to become a teacher and ended up teaching High School in Windsor, Ontario.
Elizabeth loved to spend her summers up at the cottage in Manitowaning Bay. Her Aunts (Dorothy & Ann McPhee) who had the cottage built, spent their summers there as well, up into the 1990’s. Liz loved to see her family and friends while up there. She always wanted to do day trips to the towns to see and learn the gossip of what was going on. Lots to catch up while being in Detroit over the winter months. She was able to get back to the Island every summer up until this year. Unfortunately, her health was weakening her, and the spring trip didn’t take place.
