David Wakegijig Obituary

In Loving Memory of
David  Wakegijig  
A resident of Wikwemikong.
Died peacefully Wikwemikong Nursing Home
on Wednesday, September 16th, 2015
at the age of 96.

Loving father of
Mary Adeline Lena Stacey (husband Jeffrey predeceased),
Glen Joseph Wakegijig (Viola),
Karen Teresa Wakegijig (Reginald),
predeceased by Joseph, John, Margaret Lorna,
David Alexander Bernard, Valentine Walter Terrence,
Baby Boy and Baby Boy.
Cherished grandfather of
Twin Girls (predeceased), John (Brenda), Jamie (Tracey),
Chris (predeceased), Frank (Amanda), Blayne (Alyssa) and Lewis.
And great grandfather of
Tayden, Tate, Ty, Tosh, Tameron,
Blaise, Jarod, Danielle,
Ava, Carson, Ciarah and Mylah.
Predeceased by siblings Wesley and Cecile Waindubence.
Beloved uncle of Kathleen Roque and Michael Waindubence, Stanley Waindubence (predeceased).

David was hard working and enjoyed woodworking, renovations, doing bark work, and making some of his own tools.  In his younger days he did logging and moved on to become a skilled carpenter for 35 plus years, building the nursing home, arena, band office, and also many homes throughout the community and the Manitoulin.  He was the last one living who had worked on the rebuilding of
Holy Cross Church.  

A few of his favourite things was his gardening, baking bread, all of which he shared with his family.  He loved playing his violin, and his favourite tunes on his harmonica.  He has won many step dancing contests, dancing until he was 91.


Family and friends will gather at
St. Ignatius Church, Buzwah Friday, from 11:00 am  

Funeral Mass
at St. Ignatius Church, Buzwah
Monday, September 21st, 2015 at 11:00am.  

Burial  at Wikwemikong Upper Cemetery
