David Fox Obituary

In Loving Memory of
David Joseph Fox
January 8, 1939 - January 8, 2023

David Joseph Fox was born in Waaboozoonminising (Rabbit Island) to Theresa Mary (Animikwaan) Fox and Moses D. Fox (baa) on January 8, 1939
in the family home.

He was a loving brother to William Roy, Augustine Roy, Morris Fox, Laura Fox, Dominic Roy, Christine Roy, Marguerite Syrette, Eugene Fox, Donald Fox, Alex Fox, (Mary) Theresa Francis (Martin), James Fox (Kay)
all predeceased and survived by Joe Fox (Rita)
and Verna Fox-Polson.

He enjoyed life, giving of his time and he was generous.  He loved to sing and play his guitar for others at wakes, at the Nursing Home and special events. David loved singing so much he said he could sing all day without singing the same song twice. In his younger years he was really popular at the parties singing Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and Jo-bla-zoonh. He could even bust out a mean yodeling song. David loved to play golf in the summer and he volunteered with golfing events. In winter, he took up curling until he suffered a stroke. David enjoyed watching and supporting the local hockey teams. He would make special efforts to support and cheer on his relatives.

He was a loving dad to Aileen Fox-Plant (Albert Jr.)and Rob Fox and (non biological father) to Lisaand Ozzie Osawamick.
He was the proud grandfather/Mishomis to David, Albert, Naomi, Karaka, Mandaago, Sterling, Hope, Zaagii, and Clayton. Before David's stroke, he did not hesitate to travel many miles to attend those special events in his childrens and grandchildrens lives. No matter where his kids lived he made efforts to go see them.

David was one of the longest elected band councilors.  He was instrumental in the land claims that included the Islands around the Manitoulin Island. He was a lifelong learner of history and politics. In his younger years he attended University of Sudbury. He was an accountant for the Nursing Home for many years.
