Christine "Alice" Shawana (nee Lewis)
February 20, 1943 - April 9, 2024
Born on Manitoulin Island to Philomene and Daniel Lewis.
She joins her husband Felix D. Shawana and her sons Donald and Patrick (all predeceased).
Survived by daughters Yulanda (Morris "Buddy") Simpson, Bobbi and son Kenneth Lewis.
She was a proud grandmother of Joseph and Donovan.
Beloved Aunt of Verna M. Lewis.
Dear special friend of Doreen Anderson "Shawanabin" and her son John.
She will be missed by many more nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Alice lived a fulfilling life. She was living in Toronto. She was an active member of the Red Bear Singers. Active with the Council Fire of Toronto. She was supportive and active with the Residential Indian School Survivors where she met many friends and people, some she called family. She enjoyed beading, crafts, drumming, senior trips, traveling and she loved reading a good book. Plus she loved and enjoyed listening to fiddle music.
She always managed to laugh and smile, which always made someone's day special.
Christine "Alice" will always be remembered as a kind and loving mother, caring and generous while sharing and passing down her knowledge, wisdom and stories. She will be greatly missed by many. To add her quote;
"Always love and take care of each other. Let no worries or problems break you. There will always be something to be grateful for."
Family and friends will gather
at St. Ignatius Church, Buzwah
on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 9:00pm.
Funeral Mass from there
on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 11:00am.
Burial to follow in Kaboni Cemetery.
