Our heartfelt condolences to Brian, Debbie, Mike, Anne, Shari, Marc and Scot and families.. Joyce was a wonderful beautifull lady inside and out. Many great memories of Joyce when i moved to Manitowaning and spent alot of time at the Sprack House. She was such a bright and cheery woman who made everyone feel welcome and loved. Even in her later years when we would visit the nursing home she would always come to chat..offer a peppermint, and talk of her family whom she loved dearly. She was truly an angel on earth and a blessing to all who knew her. God Bless you Joyce.. I am sure you are adding quite a bit of sprarkle and colour to all the angels

Joyce was “one in a million”. We spend so much time in their restaurant in the late ‘60’s and early ‘70’s that it somehow become a second home for some.

At a time when there was darkness in our lives, Joyce led us the way out of it and showed that there was hope and opportunity for all of us in our future.

Always kind, considerate and never in fear of telling you something that she thought would help in making you a better person, Joyce was ”the light” for myself and I know many others growing up in Manitowaning.

My deepest condolences to the entire Sprack family, Joyce will long be remembered in all our hearts.

Joyce all the messages herein have a common thread and that being what a genuine/charismatic/ and special human you were, without question. I recall as a new policeman in Manitowaning you would be the first one at the door if I did something that wasn't consistent with the goals and expectations of community policing in our officers.  And Joyce you were always right on target and shared your valuable input to actions we may have strayed  from being a helper, especially to the youth in the community..  I never ever was foolish enough not to listen to your advice and council..  Heaven again, just got better..  No question in my mind you have left a gaping hole in those people who had you in their everyday life.  We love you!

The lady in red that loved my earrings, always with a smile when she spotted you  and her house door would open up and the coffee was in the pot. Joyce had many names from "cook", to Joyce's or aunty Joyce when the coffee was ready at the camp.  the silver thread has broke but just shut your eyes and you can see her loving smile. God bless all the family .

Brian and family. I'm so sorry for your loss. Joyce always made the world a happier place, and I've never felt more welcomed and loved than when I visited with mum (Maxine Howson down from the Sault). From the time I was little until our last visit a couple of years ago her sunny disposition, love of her family and extended family and desire to make everyone feel at home and fed was her special gift. I also loved learning about the history of our family from her.

To my beautiful nan. This doesn't feel real and I can't quite comprehend a world without you and your red hat in it. I will miss you more than words could ever describe and I love you even more than that. My only comfort is knowing that this is not our goodbye, but simply a see you later. I hope you are at peace now, dancing and singing with all who have awaited your arrival. You truly are one of the easiest people to love. God bless. Love always, your Samalam.

I have such great memories of Joyce.  She was a person who laughed, loved and lived big! A wonderful smile, a wink to make you feel like you were in on a special secret, and a dash of flair to remind you that the world is better with colour-and lots of it! She was kind and welcoming when our family lived on the Island.  I am grateful for all the times she made me feel like part of her family those many years ago. Sending big hugs!

To Brian, and the entire Sprack and Hembruff family. Just the other day Jim and I were talking about Joyce as we had read an article about her and Brian in the Expositor. Then we read about Joyce's passing. We are very sorry to hear this. Jim and I moved to Manitowaning in 1980. Jim was an OPP officer and I had no job. I happened to drop into the Steadman's store which Joyce managed at that time. That drop-in visit and her warm welcome cemented my love for Manitowaning. Reading the list of condolences tells us about how this lady was seen in the island community. Rest in Peace beautiful Lady in Red.
