It is with great sadness that Jim's family wishes to announce his passing after a brave battle at the Sault Area Hospital on Friday evening on March 18, 2011. Born April 21, 1935 in Manitowaning to Amy and Owen Maguire. Beloved husband of Donna, father of Linda (Chris), Lori (Graham) and Leanne (Matthew). Cherished brother of Colleen (Kenneth), John (May), Beverly (Anne) and predeceased by Bernard (Karen). Loving grandfather to Terry, Kristin, Mike, Ashley, Jeff, Noah and Owen and great-grandfather of four beautiful girls and special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Proud owner of his pets Denver and Bandit. Jim was a hard working businessman who treasured his friends, family and devoted customers. He cherished many a fishing trip with Donna, and loved to tease his friends at Uncle Steve's about the fish they caught.
Jim enjoyed his life on the Manitoulin to the fullest. He taught us all the importance of friends, family, hard work and respect for others. Visitation will be held at the Island Funeral Home on Saturday, March 26 at 12 pm with a service at 2 pm to honour Jim. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Many of us have lost a good and loyal friend. Jimmy's death was a complete surprise and shock. As a result his death manifests the hurt and sorrow felt in all of us.

Personally, it serves to help me face, and lessen my fears of my eventual journey to that wonderful place. When I know and realize friends like Jimmy are there preparing a spot for me, I am comforted it will be as the good Lord has promised.

Donna, we want you to know that you and your girls and grandchildren are in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. Just this past summer, Jimmy had a sparkle in his eye as he was setting up the trailer for "his girls" to come and camp at Uncle Steve's. He told us that was his way of having his girls"roughing it" and loved "pampering" them. You were able to spend some family time together this past summer and have great memories to treasure forever. We especially remember Owen and Noah being so proud of Jimmy's boat and the great catches their Grandpa was famous for.

Donna, Jeanne and I and the family are so sorry for your and your family's loss. Jim was a gentleman in every sense of the word. It will never be the same up there without him. I will miss him walking up the hill and coming in for a chat. When we heard the news each one related their favourite story about Jim and there was many. We all are better people for knowing him. God Bless and RIP Jim.

Donna, Linda, Lori Leanne and families please accept our sincere sympathy in the loss of Jim. Jim was always a gentleman and was always willing to help others. We know he loved his grandkids and the boys will miss fishing Lake Manitou with grandpa. We will miss his laughter, jokes and friendship.
