Only knowing Doug for a short period of time compared maybe to some during his life on Manitoulin, I had come to know a kind and gentle soul. My condolences to his family and friends that truly appreciated his inner spirit and witty humour. He will be remembered for doing it his way... With Regards, Tina

Please accept our condolences to the Tracy family. Your father was a wonderful man who was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him in his younger years or when he returned back to Manitoulin Island in his retirement years. He loved the Island with his heart and every time you seen him whether it was at the post office or on the street, he always had a story to share about what he was doing to save the island.

He will surely be missed by many people who knew him. RIP Doug.

I only just recently found out about Doug’s passing. We were so sorry to hear this news. He was a very special man. I first became acquainted with Doug and Ev through our Florida, Manitoulin reunions every year. We became friends over common ground, as we live on Lake Simcoe (address Brechin) and discovered that Ev’s father was a minister in Brechin, Ontario and Doug was doing his apprenticeship at Doolittle Funeral Home in Orillia, when they met.

I became involved with his research into Manitoulin history and also the reunions in Florida. I last saw Doug at my Mom’s (Lois Arnold) funeral in January of 2017. We had a nice visit over the luncheon. He continued to visit my Dad (Don Arnold) in the Manor, until we moved him down near us kids. We appreciated his updates.

Please except our condolences on your loss.
