DAVID ANTHONY LEONARD WASSENGESO
“Chicken George”

Passed away peacefully to the spirit world on May 4, 2017.
He was born on December 27, 1940 to David and Lucy George (nee Shawana) both predeceased.
Survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Janette and
his children Daniel “Sonny” (Trissy), Bernadette “Smallcook” (Maheengun) and Edward “Eddie”.  Cherished grandfather of 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 3 godchildren.
Will be greatly missed by his sister Angeline and brother Clifford (Phyllis) and his brothers and sisters-in law.  Predeceased by his siblings, Henry, Freda and Anthony.  He will forever be remembered by his many nieces and nephews and his special friend, “Laddie”.Leonard worked as a carpenter and a farmer, but his true passions were horse pulling, plowing, bluegrass, fiddle music and lastly, hockey as he was always “waiting for the call”.  Leonard was admired and loved by many,
but always kept his humbleness.  He was a quiet, but gentle man who always had a smile and kind word for all those he met.
Leonard has been described from many as a legend, and a legend he will always be.

Visitation starting Saturday at (6pm --this is an estimated time) at St. Ignatius Church
Funeral Mass
11:00am Monday, May 8, 2017 at Holy Cross Church
Interment will be at Upper Wikwemikong Cemetery.

Please except our condolences on the passing on of Your Man Janette, as you called him. He will be missed by so many people who he met through his life. His Gentle voice and warm smile will be a strong and cherished memory for all of his friends and family. To Sonny pass on your kind and respectful ways to your son like your Dad has done for you. To Small cook and Eddie cherish the love and kindness that only a true Dad can give his children. When you see the light catch the skate blade on the ice it is Chickens eyes twinkling watching his favorite game.

Our sincere sympathy Jeanette & family in the passing of your dear husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and our dear friend "Chicken George, who always would greet us with a smile and chuckle. Maybe a two step at one time also. The Spirit World has gained another and one can only imagine the re-union that is taking place with those who have gone before him.
