In Loving Memory Of
Albert ‘Hardy’ Peltier
78 years
Albert Hardy Peltier was born in Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve on March 6, 1938.  He was a member of the Odawa First Nation.  He was raised by his grandparents during some very difficult times.  His grandmother had an old pump organ and it was there that Hardy started his musical career, and eventually took up music lessons from the Sisters of St. Joseph’s in Wikwemikong.  Some of the greatest moments began when he started playing a guitar taught by one of his late friends, Mr. Gordon Corbiere, he learned his first Chord
in the key of ‘G’ and eventually learned the song – “Your Cheating Heart” by Hank Williams.  Hardy’s passion for country music gave him satisfaction, entertaining the people and especially bringing together people who
enjoy the old country style.

Hardy dedicated many years lobbying the government to bring our land claim issues to the forefront.  He mentored many young people who were interested in learning the history of our land claims.
Albert ‘Hardy’ Peltier passed away on
December 19, 2016, peacefully; joining his wife Sara.

A sad day learning of the passing of my good friend Hardy. I had the privilege of working with Hardy on the Point Grondine land claim on behalf of the Wikwemikong Band,no individual could have been more passionate about their work than Hardy he understood his position and his knowledge of Robinson Huron Treaty was a great asset to achieving a final settlement.
To his family be proud of your father and his untold dedication for the betterment of the people of Wikwemikong.

Hardy could see humour in everything - the greatest human gift. Also, we shared a love of music and especially Hank Williams' music. To me that's a winning combination. Hardy was my friend. Rest easy my friend.

A good friend is someone who cares for you, someone who is willing to help you, someone you can talk to,some one to laugh with, Hardy was that good friend.
Rest in peace my friend, always in my heart. Hardy, like Hank Williams, did set Wiky and Killarney on fire,,with his music. In friendship and love always. Ann Roque
