As a member of the Library Outreach Program I was introduced to Nellie and eventually Alvern. I will remember with fondness the 3 yrs I have known her. Since I'm not an island girl they told me many great stories. We had many good times and quite a few laughs.

Jim, Ryan and family members: please know you are all in my thoughts as I think fondly of Nellie, Gordon and our times in Sandfield. I always remember her sharp mind, dedication to her family and church. Still miss her dill bread, baking and Christmas pudding. A life well lived. Love Cheryl

Jim, Alvern, Don and family members. Many fine, happy memories come to mind whenever I heard Nellie's name mentioned. As she was a good friend to my gramma, I got to know her very well as a lot of my childhood was spent in Sandfield. She was a very good Sunday school teacher. Cherish the memories of this fine lady as they will help you through this sad time. My deepest condolences.

I am the new pastor at Manitoulincc@gmail.com Community Church (Formerly Tehkummah Pentecostal Church) I had the honor of meeting Nellie in her home at TLC in Little current. We hit it off amazingly. She made me laugh and giggle. She was a warm friendly and fun woman! I so enjoyed our visit. She told me many stories of her involvement in the church over the years that she attended this church. She certainly was a true servant of God. She will be greatly missed by many I am sure! My prayers are with the family and friends of which her life impacted throughout her life. She is now with her savior Jesus rejoicing in heaven!!

I will miss Grandma.
I'm grateful for the time we had, the hugs when I needed them, or even just because, and the lectures when I needed them too.
She always made sure that we knew her house was also our home.
Thank you Grandma for all you did.
Go with God, rest peacefully.

To Nellie's family,

On behalf of my husband and I, our residents and staff, we extend our deep and very heartfelt sympathy to all of you. We are holding you all in our thoughts and prayers.

Our hearts are deeply saddened by Nellie's passing. She has been such a integral part of our home and her absence has left a great void in our hearts as well as our home. To say she will be missed is an understatement.

I will always cherish time spent at Aunt Nellie and Uncle Gordon's home in Sandfield. Their daughter Betty and I were best friends. We never lost contact until her sad passing. Aunt Nellie happily participated in any or all of our conversations, and sometimes 'misadventures'. We shared much laughter and general silliness. But on another note, Aunt Nellie was very patient, extremely generous and most understanding. She offered gentle guidance and stressed the importance of strong moral standards. Deepest condolences to you Jim, David and Derek and to your families. Aunt Nellie may you rest in peace. We love you.
