Joseph Albert Charland
February 20th, 1949-August 25th, 2016
A resident of Copper Cliff & Sudbury.
Died peacefully at camp in Providence Bay, on Thursday, at the age of 67.

Beloved husband of Dianne (nee Dionne).
Loved father of James (Sarah),
Michael (Laura),
Julia (Justin Disley).
Proud grandpa/papa of
Owen, Faith,
Sophie and Graeme.
Dear brother of Richard (Suzanne).
Remembered by brother in law Danny Dionne (wife Jaclyn).

Joe’s love of his family and the outdoors was an inspiration to us all to live our life to the fullest.  Joe’s commitment to his work and attention to detail made him a trusted mentor for those who worked with him in all of the companies he was with (Atlantic Packaging, LOEB, North West Company.)  Joe lived by his motto, “take one day at a time”, which has been inherited by many of his family and friends.

Celebrating their 40th Anniversary, Joe and Dianne spent an amazing summer together at their Manitoulin Island vacation property as well as travelling the Rideau Canal, visiting with family and friends throughout.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be hosted by the family in the summer of 2017.  Donations to the Vale Hospice would be appreciated.

Our family stands with you in prayer, Dianne, as you and your loved ones mourn the loss of Joe. He was, as someone said, "larger than life" and his presence in the store led him and Brent into many lively discussions about the Leafs. His acts of kindness to the people here during their times of mourning will always be remembered with appreciation. May you be comforted by rich memories of your years together and the knowledge that others are praying for you and your family.

Dianne and family we are so sorry for your loss. We were shocked when we heard of his passing. We expected Joe to live to be a hundred. Although our time was short together I certainly learned a lot from Joe and am a better person because of his influence. We will always cherish the laughs we had together, especially the "Joe Factor"

Dear Dianne and family
There is with great sadness that we feel as we write this condolence.
While we lived in Moose Factory for 6 years, Joe was the manager of The
Northern Store. He was always very kind, helpful and supportive with any
of our needs. Ken enjoyed being part of his staff and Joe was always an
encouraging and supportive 'boss'.
With our sympathy and prayers
God bless!

Joe was an excellent Northern store manager who stood by his convictions and opinions on how we could be a better retailer. I valued his advice and admired his candor. Joe continued to work for us on relief assignments and continued to offer me his insights into new ideas for NWC. One of our truest Nor' Westers, Joe will be dearly missed by all of us. My thoughts and prayers go out to Joe's family.
