My most sincere Condolences to Toots, Sally, Jamie, Jesse, Morgen, Hunter and Baby Mya. Our whole Community is saddened today. Your presence will be missed in so many ways.
I had the pleasure of growing up with Murray as my neighbour. As young children growing up we were always playing outside, Murray would come out looking for Jamie. I fondly remember him calling, "Son" and we would all know it was Murray calling Jamie home.
Loyal, trustworthy, respectful and dedicated are a few words I would use to describe Murray as a neighbour and family friend. A true Gentleman in every way.....

Murray showed us McDermids the family "Bible" last summer, with all the rich family history. My father, Bill, esp. enjoyed seeing Murray again. Sad to hear of his passing. Quite a guy!

My wife was quite impressed with Murray's handshake when I took her to meet him when we were on our honeymoon in 2004. He was quite a man and very friendly to us. I remember hearing my last name on the radio when I was just a wee boy and asking my dad who that was playing baseball and he told me it was his cousin Murray ... I never forgot that ..
will miss him deeply ... Bob (Robert McDermid) and wife Gwendolynn.

We were very sorry to hear of Murray's passing. He was a true gentleman, a man of principle with a very 'caring' attitude where his family and friends were concerned. We have known Murray since 1975 when we began to build our cottage on Square Bay. He provided all the lumber and good advice we needed to get the job done. I was privileged to do his story for my Now and Then column in 2004 and got the chance to know a little more about this man who has done so much for Providence Bay and Manitoulin Island.

Our heart felt love and sympathy goes out to you and your family Toots. We were saddened to hear of the passing of Murray, a dear husband, father, and grandfather. You will miss him dearly. I have many memories of Murray, as I grew up in Providence Bay. I also worked in McDermid's store for a short as a teenager. Murray was very kind and a perfect gentleman and will be greatly missed by all. Special condolences to Sally, our flower girl fifty eight ago. Our prayers are with each of you.
