"Mary" Gertrude Edith (Laundy) Young passed away peacefully at the age 89 on Sunday June 28, 2015 at the Manitoulin Centennial Manor in Little Current, Ontario.

Mary was born on August 28, 1925 in Lewis, Sussex England. She went to work as an under parlour maid at a very young age with the goal of becoming the head cook of the estate.  In 1940 Mary joined the Land Army and drove tractor and looked after the animals and eventually met the love of her life (a young cute Canadian soldier) Bill Young. This love story lasted for 58 years.

Mary came to Toronto in 1946 on the Queen Mary landing in Halifax.  She moved into her wonderful home in Toronto where she lived until moving to Manitoulin in 2012.  She was a wonderful mother to her three children and "Nana" to her grandchildren and great grand children. Mary spent her time volunteering for many organizations and loved sewing and quilting.

Predeceased by her husband William James Young.  Beloved mother of Marion (Ross) Knights of Toronto, Peter  Young (predeceased) (Mary) Young of Toronto, Lynda (Paul) Richer of Little Current.

Loving Nana to grandchildren Charles Knights, Elizabeth Dunn, Sean Weston, Catherine Cissel, and Alex Hegedus and great grand children Zachary, Kyle, Forrest, Liam, and Peyton.
Remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday July 6, 2015 at the St.Bernard's Catholic Church in Little Current.

Mary will be interred at Highland Memorial Gardens in Toronto with her husband.

Donations to the Manitoulin Centennial Manor Auxiliary would be greatly appreciated.
