Uncle Ab was a very special person, someone we have all laughed with. Many wonderful memories of camp time. He was the baby of the Laidley family but he was also one to step up and help his siblings. Marlene, Kevin, Connie, Chris and families,

It is with a heavy heart that I share in your loss of a wonderful man. Ab was so kind, caring and giving to all that had the pleasure to know him. Like others, I have so many fond memories and stories to cherish. The safe bus rides, fast boat rides, fun fish fries at Laidleyville, Golden Dragon bus patrol parties, neighborly waves, to the Laidley's special beverages. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers as you face the days ahead. Find peace and strength in the love that surrounds you at this difficult time.

Ab will be missed dearly. In recent years they have been our neighbours. He always loved when I would walk past with my daycare kids, and they would get a wave, and a "how you doing?" He was such a kind, gentle soul. My condolences to the entire family.

When one wishes to establish a role model to aim for, envison a template of a person who oozes the qualities of a humanitarian, one should think of Ab. Ab lived the example we should all follow. He gave to his community, asking nothing in return.

Ab would donate his buses and expertise year after year and personal time to train our bus patrolers in the safe transportation of our children. Always one to step up to the plate first when a volunteer was needed.

Ab, to me, wasn't only a great person, but was what great people are all about, and what they encompass.

My wife and I extend our sincerest heart felt condolences to Ab's personal and community family. Our extreme loss is heaven's gain.

What can you say about a man who meant so much to so many. A man that made you feel welcomed and always happy to see you. When you met Ab you knew he was a good, special and generous person. I feel blessed to have known him. Ab was always there to lend a helping hand for whoever needed one. For all of us who had the privilege of knowing Ab leaves us feeling we are better people because of him. So many nice memories. He will be greatly missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Susan Campbell.
