William John Newlands

In 1963 he married Audrey and transitioned  her family’s  business from boat building to marine and small engine repair, maintenance and storage.  The business continued to grow and evolve.
For several years he did volunteer work for the fire
dept., including being fire chief for awhile.
Willie also worked at the water treatment centre, delivered rural mail, and drove school bus
for a number of years.
Willie really enjoyed spending time with family
and friends, always ready for a coffee, a chat
and a good chuckle.
We will all miss his quick wit, very generous nature
and quiet intelligence.

Died peacefully at Mindemoya Hospital on Thursday December 15, 2011 at the age of 74.

Dear Audrey, Heather, Oliver and family...

I was very very sorry to hear about Willie and on behalf of myself and the museum board I offer my deepest condolences. I am down south for the winter and deeply regret that I will not be able to get to the funeral. However the Newland family will be very much in my thoughts over the next few days.

Sincerely,

Rick Nelson

Dear Audrey,Oliver , Heather and Families. We want to express our deep felt sympathy for your loss. Willie was a great guy and we feel honored to have known him. The times we spent visiting with both Willie and Audrey around the boat yard and the shop - and the laughs we shared will always be remembered. A favorite School Principal of mine once wrote in a Year Book " God gave us memories, that we might have roses in December." May happy memories of your Husband,Dad and Grandpa bring a smile to your face in the years ahead. With Love - Your friends always- Cliff and Martine Curry.

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. It is comforting to know that heaven just became a much richer place to be knowing Willie is there.

I know I am a wealthier person from having known Willie and his family as personal friends and shared in your lives.

May God Bless and comfort you all and allthough we are unable to be with you in person, we are there in spirit.
